Mission: To promote the general health and welfare of the nation's Indian population.

The Food Distribution Program (FDP) is offered to eligible community members of Akwesasne as an alternative to the existing food stamp program administered by the Franklin County Department of Social Services.

The FDP reviews and processes applications to determine eligibility for the program. The program provides foods supplied by the USDA including cheese, canned vegetables, canned meats, powered milk and eggs, rice, peanut butter, canned juices, cereal, butter, frozen chicken and beef, etc. Participants preference is considered in each monthly allocation.

The FDP maintains a storage warehouse and inventory of the food commodities and has developed a distribution system for onsite pickup and outreach delivery to eligible residents.
