In order to remove the impairment, the following removal criteria must be met:
- Wetlands support healthy communities of significant species and no reports of deformities from wildlife officials. Exceptions may apply to limited background effects; AND
- Incidence rates, if present, of deformities (e.g. cross-bill syndrome) or other reproductive problems (e.g. egg-shell thinning) in sentinel wildlife species do not exceed background levels of inland control populations.
Additional removal criteria based upon the impairments to local Mohawk culture and traditions are being finalized and will be added after appropriate approvals and endorsements.
This BUI was re-designated as not impaired by the SLR AOC at Cornwall/Akwesasne in 2007.
