U.S. Coast Guard Boating Safety Course Being Offered

AKWESASNE -- An online Boating Safety Course has been arranged by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police and is scheduled for April 5th & April 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Participants must attend both virtual classes being conducted by the U.S Coast Guard’s Massena Auxiliary and pass a test to successfully complete the course.

The cost is $35.00 (USD) per person and must be paid by March 24th at the SRMT Finance Department’s Accounts Receivable window, located on the second floor in the Ionkwakiohkwaro:ron Tribal Administration Building. The minimum age to take the class is 10-years old and the class size is limited to the first 30 people who register.

After payment is received, you must go to the Tribal Police Station with your Paid Receipt to obtain your course booklet. The Zoom host will contact you with the invitation link to join the Boating Safety Class via the email address you provide.

After successful completion of the Boating Safety Course, certificates will be available for pick-up at the SRMT Tribal Police Station. The Boating Safety Certificate is valid in all 50 U.S. States and Canada.

All power boat operators and jet ski operators must complete a Boating Safety Course by 2025. There are also year and age requirements in New York State.
