The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center informs the community that despite recent CDC recommendations regarding isolation periods, the SRMT continues to coordinate with the Franklin County Health Department, and has not revised any Quarantine Guidelines for Akwesasne residents. These guidelines continue to require a minimum 10-day isolation period if you receive a positive COVID-19 test result. Those who have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual are required to quarantine for the period of time specified by SRMT and NYS contact tracers while they monitor symptoms.
The Tribe continues to lead surrounding communities with safety guidelines, which has included consistent indoor mask mandates, workplace vaccine mandates and social distancing requirements.
The new CDC guidance is being discussed with County officials and is under review by NYS Health Officials. Should SRMT and County protocols change there will be an announcement. On December 24th NYS Dept of Health issued specific guidance on shortening isolation periods for certain fully vaccinated healthcare and other critical workforce. This advisory is under review by SRMT EOC and Health officials.
If you test positive for COVID-19, please isolate at home away from others and notify SRMT Contact Tracers at (518) 333-0230, Franklin County Public Health at (518) 481-1710, or St. Lawrence County Public Health at (315) 386-2325.
Reporting positive results to Contact Tracers is imperative to keep First Responders and your loved ones safe and to prevent further spread of the virus. Contact Tracers will provide further guidance on quarantine requirements.
