Tribe’s EOC Reports Zero COVID-19 Cases: 43.4% Vaccination Rate

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is continuing to report no new or active cases of COVID-19 in Akwesasne’s southern portion. The last active case reported within the Tribe’s jurisdiction was 23 days ago on June 2nd. There are also no individuals in isolation or quarantine under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. We continue to extend appreciation to everyone who is doing their part to keep us all safe, including those who got vaccinated to protect themselves, their families, and other community members. Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services reports that 7,100 total vaccinations have been administered, as of June 23rd. This includes 3,672 Primes, or first doses, provided to individuals of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. Additionally; 3,428 Boosters; or second doses, have been provided at the Wednesday Walk-in Vaccine Clinics. It represents a current vaccination rate of 43.4% under the Tribe’s jurisdiction, with 56.6% of eligible individuals ages 12 years or older still needing to be vaccinated.

COVID-19 WALK-IN VACCINE CLINICS

An Open Walk-In Vaccine Clinic is being held every Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All individuals ages 12 years or older can attend, but keep in mind that minors require a parent to be present. College students are urged to check with their school’s vaccination requirement for returning to campus in the fall. If you have any questions about vaccine clinics being conducted by SRMT Health Services please call (518) 333-0230.

Individuals who are 18 years and older and receive the Moderna Vaccine will be entered into a drawing to win prizes: including a 70” Samsung Flat Screen TV. Those who receive the COVID-19 vaccine will also get a voucher for a FREE Sub, courtesy of Subway located in the Speedway Plaza at 935 State Route 37. The next drawing will take place on Wednesday, June 30th for the 70” television, so please get vaccinated and don’t miss your chance to win prizes!

Community members who received their COVID-19 vaccination away from Akwesasne are asked to call the Tribe’s Outreach Program at (518) 358-3141 to have it documented with Health Services. Documenting vaccinations locally is an important way to help track and build community immunity.

COVID-19 PCR TEST COLLECTION CLINICS

Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is conducting COVID-19 PCR Test Collection Clinics from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at their main campus located at 404 State Route. Please utilize the new road located across from McGee Road. The testing clinic is a drive-thru format and is open for all community members and employees of SRMT, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne businesses, and local school districts. Individuals should only get tested if they are exhibiting symptoms, haven’t been compliant with safety protocols, or no sooner than seven (7) days following a suspected exposure to a positive case. Some early symptoms of COVID-19 are diarrhea, fever, cough, tiredness, or possible loss of taste or smell.
