Tribal Health Services Reports 70% Vaccination Rate

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is proud to report that 70% of eligible residents have received their initial two-shot series of a COVID-19 vaccine; as of January 25, 2022. They still urge community members to not let their guard down and to get vaccinated when they have the opportunity. Being vaccinated not only reduces your chances of being hospitalized due to severe symptoms, but more importantly it helps protect those with immunocompromised conditions and others who cannot receive the vaccine.

Approximately 33.6% of eligible community members have received the additional booster dose, which is administered no sooner than five (5) months following the second shot. The population includes individuals ages 12 to 17 years who can receive the Pfizer vaccine booster, while individuals ages 18 years or more can receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

To help encourage eligible individuals to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Health Services is continuing to conduct a drawing at each 5% vaccine milestone. With the vaccination rate of 70%, five (5) names will be drawn to win $1,000 each for choosing to protect themselves and those they love. Anyone who received a vaccination from the clinics conducted by Health Services is automatically eligible.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services is holding a Pediatric Pfizer Vaccination Clinic for kids ages 5 to 11-years old at their main campus located at 404 State Route 37 on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a walk-in clinic, but appointments are preferred by calling (518) 358-3142.
