AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services reported one (1) new case of COVID-19 today in Akwesasne’s southern portion. Eight (8) community members have been released from isolation since yesterday, but there remain 27 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Through contact tracing, 26 family members and friends are in quarantine at home to prevent further spread and three (3) individuals remain hospitalized -- though they are not considered active and will remain under the hospital’s care until released. Unfortunately, one (1) more community members has succumbed to COVID-19. We offer our sincere condolences to their family and friends during this difficult time.
We kindly remind you to please treat everyone as if they are positive -- wear a mask in all public places, wash your hands often, avoid uncontrolled gatherings, social distance, stay in your immediate bubble, and stay home if you are sick.
