AKWESASNE -- The SRMT Water Resources Program has issued a Scientific Collectors Permit to the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to conduct electrofishing work in Jurisdictional Tribal waters. From June 26 to 30, USFWS survey crews will be will be in uniform and wearing orange personal floatation devices to perform electrofishing from 18' aluminum boats. On June 29th the USFWS will be joined by SRMT Water Resources Program Staff in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of these efforts and share knowledge on sampling techniques for invasive species. This survey will assist in combating Aquatic Invasive Species such as the Eurasian Tench, Round Gobi, and others.
