The annual Akwesasne Roadside Ditch Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants may register and pickup supplies (i.e. garbage bags and gloves) Friday, May 6th prior to the event at the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Environment Division located at 449 Frogtown Road, or at the Former IGA Building at 850 State Route 37 on the day of the cleanup.
Materials will be accepted at the SRMT Transfer Station located at 179 County Route 43, Fort Covington, or the temporary collection station in the Former IGA parking lot. No household garbage, appliance or tires will be accepted.
Registered participants will be entered to win prizes. Follow our event on Facebook and upload before and after pictures of your cleanup using the hashtag #AkwesasneRoadsideCleanup.
As always, please be careful of hazardous and dangerous items that can be found in ditches and along roads. If you find needles, weapons or other dangerous items, do not touch it and call Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police at (518) 358-9200 or Akwesasne Mohawk Police Services at (613) 575-2340.
