AKWESASNE—Pursuant to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Land Acquisition and Sales Policy (TCR 2009-71), the Tribe wishes to inform the community of a proposed exchange of land parcels, both one acre in size, with a Tribal Member, which would benefit both parties.
Tribal lot #248-A-2, owned by the Tribal Member, shall be transferred to the Tribe in exchange for Lot #3 at the end of the Wáhta Street cul-de-sac within the Tribe’s new Housing Development area across from Cook Road. The proposed acquisition of Lot 248-A-2 is contiguous to Generations Park, located directly behind the pavilion at Generations Park. The Tribe will develop Lot 248-A-2 over time to expand park amenities for the community. There shall be no monetary payment involved in the proposed agreement.
While the Land Acquisition and Sales Policy does not specify procedures on land exchanges, the Tribal Council provides due notice to the membership of the proposed land exchange. Tribal members may provide written comments on this matter via e-mail to public.comment@srmt-nsn.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Kentenhkó:wa/November 27, 2024.
