AKWESASNE — On Onerahtohkó:wa/May 5, 2021, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council and the Tribal Clerk, announced a 30-day public comment period for proposed amendments to the Tribe’s Probate Law. Public comments were received during the comment period. As a result, the Probate Law was amended to reflect the comments received.
The final draft is now available for community viewing on the Tribal Member Portal located on the Tribe’s website at www.srmt-nsn.gov. After accessing the portal, please click on the dropdown menu “Tribal Laws, Ordinances, and Regulations” and select the Probate Law Final Draft.
You can also call the Tribal Clerk’s office to obtain a copy until Friday, Seskéha/August 6, 2021. After August 6th, the Tribal Council shall sign the legislation into law.
