Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Expresses Condolences after Tragic House Fire

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a family of six, including three young children, who perished in a house fire on January 27, 2025. We offer our sincere condolences and send healing thoughts to the family and all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy.

"Our hearts are broken by the tragic loss of this family, including two tribally-enrolled members, whose lives were taken too soon in this devastating fire," shared Tribal Council. "Our deepest sympathies go to the surviving family members and the community as a whole. The loss is truly immeasurable and we offer our support in any way we can during this incredibly difficult time."

We acknowledge and extend heartfelt gratitude to the Massena Volunteer Fire Department and the 11 additional fire crews and departments from surrounding areas, including HAVFD, Louisville, Norfolk, and Potsdam. We also acknowledge the support of the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team, New York State Police, and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. Their dedication and swift response has been vital during this tragic event.

As investigations are still underway, we are committed to upholding the right to privacy for the family, first responders, and authorities as we mourn this tremendous loss.
