The National Indian Health Board recognized the work of the Haudenosaunee Behavioral Health Providers Coalition with the 2018 Local Impact Award at their Annual Heroes in Health Awards Gala held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 19, 2018. The Coalition was successful in increasing recognition of tribal sovereignty by amending New York State regulations to recognize services provided by tribal substance abuse treatment facilities in seeking reimbursements from insurance companies.
