AKWESASNE -- The Saint Regis Mohawk Health Services announced that winners of the first Milestone Vaccine Incentive Drawing that took place on Wednesday, October 13th have been verified. The following five (5) individuals each received $1,000 for choosing to be vaccinated: Mathias Thompson, Samual Benedict, Michael Benedict III (Wishe), Lesa Terrance, and Richard (Ricky) Benedict.
Health Services Director Michael Cook shared, “Over the past several months, our medical team has been going to great lengths to get the message out to protect yourself against COVID-19 by being safe and getting the vaccine. We’ve been holding and will continue conducting weekly clinics at the former-IGA Building to help folks receive the vaccine. The initial response has been overwhelming; but to encourage others that maybe were undecided on being vaccinated we initiated special incentive drawings and giveaways. As a reminder, for those that did not receive the incentive you are still eligible for the milestone drawings that will continue.”
For a limited time, Health Services has been offering $100 casino gift certificates to tribal members and employees who are 18-years old or more for each new shot received. The gift certificates can be redeemed at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort for cash, while individuals under the age of 18 will receive a $100 Walmart Gift Card. This giveaway will end on Wednesday, October 27th.
To help reward individuals who were vaccinated prior to the $100 incentive offering, everyone who received the COVID-19 vaccine from Health Services are now eligible to win $1,000 at vaccine milestones. The next drawing will take place when the vaccination rate reaches 55% and at each 5% increment thereafter. As of October 14th, the vaccination rate under the Tribe’s jurisdiction was 52.2%.
The five individuals are the first set of winners from the milestone incentive drawing, but Health Services is asking everyone to please get vaccinated for a chance to win $1,000 for the upcoming holiday season.
The Walk-In Vaccination Clinic takes place every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the former-IGA Building, located at 850 State Route 37 in Akwesasne.
