AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is continuing to provide for the health, safety and wellbeing of the Akwesasne community. Through the Tribe’s Compliance Department, a food distribution will take place on Tuesday, September 8th and Thursday, September 10th for tribal members to receive non-perishable items. The food items will be available for pickup at the former-IGA Building between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on both days.
Limited quantities of the following food items will be available (may include other items not listed):
- Cereal (Honey Bunches, Frosted Shredded, Marshmallow, and Corn Flakes)
- Kraft Easy Macaroni
- Pepperidge Farm Gold Fish
- Dole Peaches
- Welch’s Juices
- Peanut Butter
- Squeeze Jelly
- Jam
- Uncle Ben’s Rice
They are being distributed on a “first come, first serve” basis, as well as under strict guidelines due to the ongoing pandemic. Tribal members are asked to adhere to the following requirements:
- All traffic must use the main entrance to the former-IGA Building at the traffic light located across from the casino’s main entrance;
- Individuals must be a tribal member;
- Please being your own bag or box for transporting;
- Must wear a mask while picking up and must remain in vehicle; and
- Must respect social distancing and your patience is appreciated.
Individuals are asked to only take what they need and to please consider others who are in need of food staples. For anyone in need of essential food items, please contact the Family Advocate’s Office at (518) 358-3021.
