AKWESASNE – On Tsiohthóhrha/December 7, 2016 students at the Akwesasne Freedom School received new winter jackets and snow pants from the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council. Freedom School students Tehakenhatennies and Tharonhiokwas stopped by the Community Building to deliver 22 jackets and pants for their fellow students. The donation was made available through the Tribal General Fund and benefitted students at local schools and privately run daycares; that include Small Steps Daycare, Courtney King's Day Care, Chrissy Jacob's Day Care, Saint Regis Mohawk Head Start and Early Childhood Development Program, Salmon River Central School, Massena Central School, St. Regis Mohawk School and the Akwesasne Freedom School.
