AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Health Services announced that additional COVID-19 Walk-In Vaccine Clinics will be held this week at the former-IGA Building. Individuals with family, employment, or other connections to the Akwesasne community are encouraged to participate in the clinics on Tuesday, March 30th and Thursday, April 1st beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), or until supplies last.
The Walk-In Vaccination Clinic is available for individuals who are 18-years or older for receiving the Moderna vaccine, as well as for a limited number of 16 and 17-year-olds for receiving the Pfizer vaccine. Both vaccines require two doses to be administered 21 days apart for Pfizer and 28 days for Moderna. Individuals are asked to follow through on their second shot (or Booster) to not risk receiving vaccines in the future.
“We continue to extend a huge ‘niawenko:wa/thank you very much’ to all our health care professionals and other tribal staff for making the vaccination process safe and efficient for everyone,” shared the Tribal Council. “Being vaccinated is a voluntary decision, but we encourage individuals to please get vaccinated to help protect themselves, their families, and their community,” added the Tribal Council.
Regardless of vaccination status, individuals should continue to follow all safety protocols that were developed to keep us all safe: Wear your mask in public places. Stay at least six (6) feet apart from others who do not live in your household bubble. Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds. Do not travel outside of the Tribe’s 300-mile radius for non-essential reasons.
