Tribe’s EOC Reports Zero New COVID-19 Case

Dec 7, 2020

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting no new active case of COVID-19 over the weekend — holding the number of active cases at three (3) under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. According to the Nation’s leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, cases related to Thanksgiving and travel won’t be reported until two or three weeks following the holiday.

The Tribe’s EOC is continuing to urge community members to please remain vigilant and follow all safety measures being recommended, particularly wearing a mask in public places and when social distancing is not possible. Individuals and businesses are reminded that the mask directive issued by the EOC on April 23, 2020 remains in effect,

The mask or face covering can be a scarf, bandana, or other cloth material however, it must be worn properly where it is required. Masks should cover the mouth AND the nose, as both openings are vital parts of an individual’s respiratory system.

Subsequent to the mask directive, Tribal Council signed TCR 2020-35, “Authorize the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Compliance Department to Inspect Tribal Businesses Regarding Public Health Directives Under the State of Emergency (TCR 2020-17)”, which also remains in effect.
