South Span Bridge Closure (11:00 a.m.)

The Seaway International Bridge Corporation has notified the emergency planning offices for the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) that the South span of the Seaway International Bridge has been temporarily closed.
Initial reports indicate that the bridge crossing that connects Massena, New York to Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) will remain closed for a period of four to five hours. The North Span Bridge is also temporarily closed with the exception of Kawehno:ke residents being allowed to travel home from the city of Cornwall.
The emergency planning offices for both the MCA and SRMT are taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and travel needs of local residents.Further information will be provided to the community as it is received.
