Two Suspicious Fires Have Occurred

Akwesasne has experienced two fires in abandoned homes in the past two days. Both fires occurred around 10:30 p.m. As a result, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council is urging community members to be on the alert for suspicious activity. It’s not clear if the fires have been caused by the same person or not, but community members are advised to securely store any flammable liquids, keep doors locked on both their homes and any sheds, barns or garages. Community members can report suspicious activity to the Saint Regis Tribal Police at 358-9200. If anybody has any information on these fires, please contact tribal police.

For more information please contact David T. Staddon, Director of Public information at 518-358-2272.
