SUMMARY:  The Surveillance Operator observes and evaluates employee and customer activities in both gaming and non-gaming areas of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.  The Operator must maintain current on all local, state and federal gaming rules and regulations for Class II & III operations.  The Operator advises the Surveillance Shift Supervisor of any suspicious activity, produces violation reports, incident reports, and infraction reports.  Maintain Tribal and Gaming Enterprise policies and procedures. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor all customer and employee activity in gaming and non-gaming areas at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Mohawk Bingo Palace.
  • Detecting casino cheating and embezzlement schemes.
  • Knowledgeable of Casino Operations and Casino Table Games.
  • Knowledgeable of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and System of Accounting and Internal Controls (SAIC’s) of the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino and Mohawk Bingo Palace and enforces those standards.
  • Knowledgeable of the Tribal-State Compact between the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and State of New York for the conduct of Class II & III gaming on the Saint Regis Reservation.
  • Remain current on local, state and federal gaming rules and regulations, including: Tribal-State Compact between the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and State of New York for the conduct of Class II & III gaming on the Saint Regis Reservation.
  • Safeguards the assets of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
  • Advises Surveillance Shift Supervisor and submits reports when incidents, infraction and violations occur. 
  • Performs Close Watch when assigned.
  • Performs reviews and completes dubs as needed.
  • Utilizes multiple computer programs
  • Required to Multitask and Communicate with fellow staff members 
  • Required to work rotating shifts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Personnel Policy.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Surveillance equipment and room.
  • Ensure construction and maintenance of all gaming facilities and the operation of all activities is conducted in a manner that adequately protects the environment and public health and safety of all individuals. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. 
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class III occupational gaming license issued from the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND
  • One (1) year of gaming experience is the minimum requirement for the position. 

OR

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the area of management, business, or a related gaming field AND
  • Six (6)-months gaming experience, is PREFERRED.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Strong oral and written communication skills required. Must have excellent computer skills including word, excel, outlook, and experience with varying databases. Knowledge of casino game protection.  Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form and solve practical problems.
