Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Parks & Recreation Manager, the Recreation Worker is responsible for assisting programs, organizations, sports leagues, and non-profits with the application, policies, planning, and execution of community activities at all SRMT Parks & Recreation facilities. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Must work evenings and weekends with flexible hours as needed. The work schedule is based on the events schedule.
  • Serve as liaison between park staff and event organizers. Explain facility rules, amenities, safety procedures, give tours, assist with applications, and answer any questions or concerns for event organizers.
  • Meet and assess the needs and interests of event organizers and plan activities accordingly, given the availability of facilities.
  • Attend regular planning and staff meetings: Attend in-person and virtual meetings as requested.
  • Monitor activities and events held at all Parks & Recreation facilities, including monitoring of the Parks & Recreation Program calendar.
  • Monitor supplies and report any needs to the Parks & Recreation Manager. Purchase and pick-up items to support events; following the Tribal Procurement Policy and Tribal Fleet Policy.
  • Uphold Park and Recreation policies, rules, and safety procedures during recreational activities and community events.
  • Coordinate logistics with Park Staff and other Tribal Departments to ensure facilities are prepared for community events. Ensure tables and chairs are delivered and set up, ensure facilities are clean and usable, and any deliveries happen in a timely manner.
  • General housekeeping responsibilities: cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, disinfecting, locking/unlocking doors, turning lights on/off, and general grounds maintenance.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of any assigned equipment (laptop, camera, 2-way radio, etc.)
  • Interact with community members in a positive and courteous manner.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisor requirements for this position.

  • Must have excellent computer and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D

OR

  • At least one year of experience in an administrative role working and

 

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be dependable.
  • A friendly and outgoing personality are required.
  • Able to work well with groups of people and youth.
  • Creativity is an asset.
  • Computer testing in the applicable skills may be a requirement during the interview process.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of daily situations.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Fleet Policy.
