Chief Executive Officer- Tewáthahón:ni Corporation

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Tewáthahón:ni Board of Directors ("Board"), the Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") primary responsibility is to build and maintain the overall operational and financial success of the Tewáthahón:ni Corporation (Corporation) including but not limited to its subsidiaries. The CEO shall report to and work in collaboration with the Board to develop and advance the Corporation’s strategic plan while ensuring alignment with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s vision, values, and culture. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Operational Management: Ensure that the Corporation's operations and economic enterprises are managed effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with accepted business practices.
  • Economic Development: Assist the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (Tribe) in developing projects that align with the Tribe’s Office of Economic Development Community Economic Development (CED) strategy.
  • Investment Sourcing: Oversee the diversification of Tribal revenues by managing the Corporation’s investment program, including deal pipeline management, deal sourcing, investment due diligence, and strategic investments. Position to also include sourcing and oversight of Tribal investment in private funds and opportunities.
  • Federal Contracting Program Management: Supervise the Corporation’s involvement in the Small Business Administration (SBA), HUBZone, and 8(a) Business Development Programs, including identifying potential federal contracting opportunities, conducting due diligence, drafting responses to solicitations, and managing federal contracts (with a focus on SBA set-aside opportunities).
  • Relationship Building: Develop, manage, and grow relationships/partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including individual, corporate, foundation, and government investors and grant-makers. 
  • Reporting: Regularly update the Board regarding investment performance and pipeline, the 8(a) program, and other critical business activities.
  • Leadership: Provide professional leadership and management guidance to the Board.
  • Representation: Represent the Corporation at conferences, industry events, and public meetings.
  • Financial Planning: Develop short- and long-term financial goals and business plans according to prescribed schedules.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board, including observing board activities of Tribal subsidiaries and gaming-related endeavors.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • FINANCIAL: Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate investment opportunities in business and private funds, including financial data and related models. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. 
  • CLEAN ENERGY SECTOR: Knowledge and understanding of the Clean Energy Sector is preferred. 
  • 8(a) and HUBZone EXPERIENCE: In-depth knowledge of SBA’s HUBZone and 8(a) Business Development Programs and guidelines, with experience sourcing and executing opportunities under the program.
  • TRIBAL BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE: Previous experience working with Tribes or Tribal Economic Development Corporations in sourcing, structuring, and executing investments.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to navigate non-standard situations and effectively manage a range of variables to drive strategic decision-making.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and issues. Supervisory responsibilities will align with the Corporation’s policies and applicable laws.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or University in Business, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field and a minimum of ten years of related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience in business leadership and/or management of multiple and diverse enterprise environments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful candidate must pass a drug test before employment confirmation.
  • The successful candidate must obtain and maintain a Class III occupational gaming license issued by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Commission.
