Maintenance Laborer
Division:Facilities, Administration
Salary: $10.08 per hour
Status: Full-Time, Permanent, Shift - 8 am to 4 pm
Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the maintenance laborer is responsible for keeping all of the Tribal buildings and grounds in clean and orderly conditions by performing some of the following duties: General maintenance duties include painting and / or repairing masonry, woodwork, drywall, equipment and furnishings of Tribal buildings. Ground maintenance duties include mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removal of weeds, raking and disposal of leaves and refuse. Included will be the maintenance of concrete and asphalt areas. Perform snow removal duties with the use of snow plows, bobcats and hand tools. Transport small equipment or hand tools between departments. Set up tables and chairs as required. Assist staff with moving office furniture. Performs general plumbing, carpentry and electrical duties, as appropriate. Repairs to air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems of all Tribal buildings. Fabricate and repairs made to structures and equipment, record cost and report to Maintenance Supervisor. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, furniture, partitions and other wooden structures such as sheds and outbuildings. Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Operate and maintain Maintenance department equipment. Carry out the tribe’s preventive maintenance plan. Strictly follow all established safety procedures while performing duties. Carry out other relevant duties as required.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School diplomas or GED and/or experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 21 years or older. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must be able to lift 70 lbs. Must possess the ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.

DRUG TESTING POLICY
The successful applicant for employment must submit to a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. The testing is performed at the laboratory at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, NY. Test results are normally received in three to five days from the date of the test. In the case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. Employment may not begin until this process has been completed.
